In response to the Prime Minister’s statement this evening, advising the public to avoid unnecessary social contact, including in theatres, we regret to inform you that all events at the Hippodrome are temporarily suspended.

Given the current ambiguity and lack of clarity as to how long our lovely community run theatre may be closed for, we have taken the decision to cancel all of our events up until the end of April 2020 this includes our forthcoming production of Guys and Dolls

For anyone who has booked tickets through our website or the 0333 663366 phone number you will receive an automatic refund. You will receive further information on this directly from our ticket selling partner TicketSource within the next 72 hours. Anyone who booked tickets through the Information Centre in Todmorden please contact them on 0170681818 or in person to process your refund.

For any of our members who have booked directly through the Hippodrome please either DM us or drop us an email at [email protected] with your details and we’ll arrange your refund.

We will update everyone on the situation regarding events at the Hippodrome due to take place after April when we hopefully receive more information from the government. At the moment we are suspending tickets sales for these events but all bookings are secure.

In these uncertain and anxious times we want to thank all our supporters, friends and members for the lovely messages of support we have received. As one of the UK’s largest community run theatres this is going to be a difficult time for us but theatre folk are resilient and rest assured, we’ll be back…

Thank you,

from all the members of Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society, the registered charity that own and run the Hippodrome x

Guys & Dolls

21st to 25th April 2020

Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, Guys And Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy. Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to find the cash to set up the biggest craps game in town while the authorities breathe down his neck; meanwhile, his girlfriend, nightclub performer Adelaide, laments that they've been engaged for 14 years. Nathan turns to fellow gambler Sky Masterson for the dough, but Sky ends up chasing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown. Guys And Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, but eventually everyone ends up right where they belong.

Frank Loesser's brassy, immortal score makes Guys And Dolls a crowd pleaser and will be musically directed by NODA award winning MD Helen Clarkson with NODA Nominated director Justine Sutcliffe and Emma Cook NODA nominated for her choreography, the winning team are back to bring this wonderful show to life.
