What is the to-do with our Much Ado?
Traditionally the gentlemen in Much Ado are returning from conflict. Not wanting to take the soldier and war angle in our upcoming production, our director Elizabeth Holland set herself the task of transferring this scenario into some thing new. Enter... The Bard's Cricket Team!
Liz has reimagined the setting of Much Ado about Nothing to centre the piece around a fictional local cricket team, where sporting contest replaces that of war. For the Shakespeare purists there is nothing to fear, the wording of the production remains true; whilst the modern, local setting will hopefully make a foray into Shakespeare more accessible for those who are experiencing it for maybe the first time.
With love, deception, scheming and jealousy this comedy has all the drama needed to provide a fantastic night of entertainment. There is even some Morris dancing from our own members who have been in training with the Manchester Morris Dancers!

Don Pedro (Maurice Claypole) plotting with Claudio (Nick Birchill) but with his brother plotting against him how will his fate unfold?
The Bards Cricket Team
Our very own Morris dancing Troupe!
The team behind the wonderful and award-winning A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Merchant of Venice return to bring to life one of William Shakespeare's much loved romantic comedies:
In this production the world-weary Benedick and his friend Claudio are not returning from war however, but from a long innings at the stump to find themselves reacquainted with Beatrice and Hero who have laid on tea and sandwiches in the pavilion. As Claudio and Hero fall madly, deeply in love, Benedick and Beatrice reignite their own altogether more combative courtship.
