There are lots of ways to get involved at the Hippodrome
At the Hippodrome we build all of our stage sets including full scale musicals, play sets and more creative props. We also have teams that organise the sound and lighting for all our productions. We're always on the look out for new volunteers. Why not come along and meet the crew on a worknight. We build sets on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7.30pm and when the grafting has been done we open the bar for a well deserved pint or two! For the totally committed we also build on Sunday mornings.
Without publicity no-one would come to see the show and without a programme you wouldn't know who was in it. This vitally important team are always looking for volunteers and this is a good role for anyone who would rather volunteer in the day rather than the evening. The team design and have printed all the posters and flyers, banners and publicity that you will have seen for our shows. They also organise the distribution of publicity. Every show requires a programme and the same team design this from scratch for every production as well as finding advertisers and sponsorship.
Wardrobe and Makeup
We have a small but committed team of volunteers that costume all of our shows and make many of the costumes from scratch. If you happen to be a seamstress then that's great but anyone who would like a challenge and can sew on buttons or turn up trousers would be very welcome. We also have a makeup and hair team who even take on the challenge of special effects and theatrical wounds when required!
Front of House
If you would like to get involved in the public side of the theatre then you can always come down and help with the 'Front of House' tasks. If you could come down on show nights to make tea and coffee, sell sweets and ice creams, raffle tickets and programmes.
