Production Review
Educating Rita played to full houses all week and was brilliantly received by our audiences throughout the week. A demanding play for two actors both John and Hannah excelled in their respective roles. Huge credit must also go to the hard work and vision of Elizabeth Holland as director for bringing such a powerful and funny production to life on the Hippodrome stage.

Thank as always must go to everyone who worked on this production; no show gets to stage without the hours of work our volunteers put in, so to all who worked front and back of house - Thank you.

Finally as always our final thanks goes to our audience, without your attendance and support all the hard work would be in vain. We hope you enjoyed your evening and we hope to welcome you back to the Hippodrome soon.

TAODS are delighted to announce auditions for their Summer play, Educating Rita to be performed Tuesday 25th to Saturday 29th June 2024.
This much loved (and rarely available) piece by Willy Russell will be directed by our very talented Elizabeth Holland, who you may know for her acclaimed Shakespeare productions here at the Hippodrome.
Educating Rita is a witty, yet poignant look at the relationship between a young working-class woman determined to broaden her horizons, and a cynical middle-aged man, jaded by years in his job. It is a profoundly moving, yet hilarious two-hander, made famous by the film starring Michael Caine and Julie Walters. The society will be looking for two strong actors to bring this modern classic to the stage.
Casting Announcement
Following a successful workshop audition we are pleased to announce the cast for our upcoming performance of Educating Rita.

Rita: Hannah Sutcliffe
Frank: John Spooner

Both are familiar names at the Hippodrome. John was last seen as Rab in Sunshine on Leith and as Martin in The Kitchen Sink. Hannah recently played Beth in our production of Little Women and was part of the cast of Grimm Tales. They can't wait to start rehearsals and get this funny modern classic onto the Hippodrome stage.
