We are delighted to announce Diary of a Nobody: a zany, hat-swapping comedy about Charles Pooter of Upper Holloway, a middle-class clerk with social aspirations far beyond his status, has decided the world deserves to hear his diary. He has one night, a troupe of actors and an empty stage to impart the woes of his humdrum existence to anyone who will listen. His seemingly ordinary diary is a gateway to a world of crazy characters and hilarious antics. Adapted for the stage from the beloved book by the Grossmith brothers, this is a farcical tour-de-force showcasing 4 actors who play over 40 characters.

Audition Information

Please find below details of the auditions. At TAODS all our productions are open auditions and anyone is welcome to attend. For Diary of a Nobody we will be holding an initial get together where you can come along to a relaxed evening, meet the director and find out more about the play. The auditions will then take place in a workshop format. We hope to see lots of people there, both regular faces and new ones too!

The get-together for Diary of A Nobody will be held on Wednesday 7th October at 7.30pm in the Hippodrome foyer.

Auditions will be held on Sunday 11th October 2026, 1.00pm start at Roomfield Baptist Church, just a short way down Halifax Road from the theatre.

Jim Rowe is making his directorial debut at Todmorden and is looking for a multi-talented energetic cast of five, featuring POOTER, a middle-aged (possibly bearded) male with an RP accent. All other characters are not gender or age specific as they play multiple roles and need to speak with different voices. They are an acting troupe: all characters sing & dance, apart from PUTLEY, who is a competent pianist. This is a fast paced and comical play, although POOTER plays it straight throughout.

Please note that should you be cast in the production you will need to become a member of TAODS if you are not already.
