Performing with TAODS
TAODS performs at least three plays and one musical each season and we're proud to say that for each production we hold open auditions. We regularly welcome new faces to the theatre each year to perform alongside our more regular members. We tackle a range of productions from dark and light drama, fast paced comedies, family capers, classic plays and Shakespeare. Recent play productions have included diverse shows such as; Around the World in 80 Days, Little Women, 1984, Death by Design and Much Ado About Nothing. The adult society musicals also provide a range of productions and have previously included a varied range of shows such as Rent, Oklahoma, Evita, West Side Story , Jesus Christ Superstar and Sunshine on Leith. Within any one season we always aim to provide a range of productions from various genres and welocme anyone to get involved, all we ask for is a genuine commitment and plenty of enthusiasm.
Play Productions
Our plays are usually performed in February/March, June and September/October. Rehearsals are usually three times a week which comprises of two week day evening rehearsals and Sunday afternoon rehearsals. The rehearsal period can vary but is usually between 8 and 10 weeks with a busy technical weekend just before the week the production opens.

Alongside these three major productions we often have smaller scale ventures that can slot into the calendar. In the past these have comprised Voices of Todmorden - performing winning scripts from a local writers competition run by the theatre. Foyer productions of one-act plays, radio play readings that have been script in hand and an evening of monologue/duologues.

If you would like to get involved in performing with TAODS please look out for our open audition dates on the website and social media feeds. The read through evening are a very relaxed opportunity to hear the script read-through in full and to register interest for the audition. Please be aware that anyone who is successful in an audition will be required to become a member of TAODS. We look forward to meeting new faces soon!
Musical Productions
The adult musical usually takes place each April with the audition process taking place the previous Autumn. Depending on the scale of the production rehearsals will start either in late Autumn or the New Year. The musicals are by far the biggest budget production each year with large casts and technical complexities. We rehearse three times a week which consists of two weekday evenings and Sunday afternoons. As with all our productions the audition process is an open one and anyone who wishes can come along to audition. Those who are successful will then need to become members of the society and be prepared to show the commitment needed to present a show of the high quality the Hippodrome has gained a reputation for.
