A character breakdown can be found below

Character Profiles
Francesca - A primary school teacher in her 30s who moved from Italy to Bognor. She is passionate about traditional Italian baking and brings flavours and recipes passed down from her Nonna to the competition. Francesca has a sweet and gentle personality but beneath her calm exterior is a fierce determination to succeed.
Playing age: 30 – 40 Female presenting Mezzo
Gemma - a carer from Blackpool in her 30s. She lacks confidence and often feels out of place among the other contestants, doubting her abilities. Gemma joined the competition as a backup contestant, adding to her feelings of inadequacy. She ahs a deep emotional backstory, having cared for her late mother, and uses baking to cope with her grief.
Playing age: 30 – 40 Female presenting Mezzo
Hassan/Hassana - a sixth form student of middle eastern descent from Wembley, brimming with youthful energy and confidence. They bring a carefree, rebellious attitude to the competition. A self-taught baker, they prides themselves on not following traditional recipes, relying on their intuition. Despite their bravado, they care deeply about proving themselves and making their family proud.
Playing age: 17 Male or female presenting Tenor/Bari/Alto
Izzy - a driven Cambridge student from the home counties. From a privileged background, she’s confident, ambitious and flaunts her upper-class lifestyle. She takes a competitive, no-nonsense approach, with a sophisticated baking style and belief she’s destined to win. Though often cutthroat, hints of vulnerability sometimes peek through her polished exterior.
Playing age: 21 Female presenting Mezzo
Russell - a methodical aeronautical engineer from Yorkshire, bringing a scientific approach to baking. A perfectionist, he uses spreadsheets and precise measurements to active results. Though calm and socially awkward, his warmth, dry humour, and mentions of husband Mario reveal a soft side. His kindness and quiet support make him well-liked in the tent.
Playing age: 40/50/60 male presenting Tenor/Bari
Babs - a retired dinner lady from east London in her 60s. She brings a no-nonsense, humorous (and saucy) attitude to the tent, often lightening the mood with her witty remarks and candid nature. Despite her tough exterior, Babs has a big heart and deeply cares about the people around her.
Playing age: 50/60/70 Female Presenting Mezzo
Ben - a widowed policeman from Bristol, raising his young daughter Lily on his own. He joined the competition reluctantly after Lily secretly applied hoping to help him heal from his wife’s loss. Ben is quiet and modest, often deflecting praise and crediting his late wife for his baking skills. His relationship with Lily is central to his character.
Playing age 30 – 50 male presenting Tenor/Bari
Dezz - a laid-back vegan Hipster in his 30s who lives on a canal barge. He brings an eco-conscious twist to the baking with plant-based alternatives, often confusing the other contestants. Outspoken and quirky, he offers comic relief but sometimes clashes with eh judges…especially when his unconventional bakes go awry.
Playing age: 30 – 40 Male presenting Tenor
Co-hosts Jim and Kim - provide much of the show’s comic relief. They share a light-hearted, often silly dynamic, making witty comments and entertaining contestants and audience alike. Their playful banter helps ease tension in the tent, and their humorous antics set the tone for the competition. Throughout the show, they engage in fun skits, serving as breaks in the TV show.
Playing age: 16+ Any gender
Pam Lee - a glamourous celebrity baker in her 70s or 80s, known for her sharp wit and charm. She is a national treasure who has seen it all in the world of baking, and her vast experience makes her a formidable judge. Pam is warm and approachable, often offering humorous critiques to the bakers, but she also has high standards.
Playing age: 70 – 90 Female presenting Mezzo
Phil Hollinghurst - a handsome Liverpudlian baker in his 50s. Known for his stern demeanour, Phil is famous for his handshakes which signify excellence in baking. He takes his role very seriously, and his sharp eye for detail makes him a tough critic. However, he has a softer side, revealed in his interactions with Pam and Babs.
Playing age: 50 – 60 Male Presenting Tenor
Ensemble - the glue of Bake Off, helping to hold the story together with teamwork and energy whilst providing audiences with an immersive experience. String groupwork singing, movement and playful character moments are key, with chances to shine through solo lines as they support the show’s warmth and humour.
Playing age: 16+ Any gender
