TAODS are honoured to be asked to open the series of celebration events for the 150th Anniversary of Todmorden Town Hall. Our "Voices" script-writing competition was first-launched to celebrate the Hippodrome's centenary and has been a popular project ever since. We have re-worked the competition this year, to involve more actors. The competition closed in September last year, and we had lots of high quality entries, from returning writers, first-time entrants, TOADS members and writers from around the country.
Our judges read each script blind to ensure complete parity. Now, the scores are in and the seven shortlisted scripts to be performed at the Town Hall on Friday 28th March 2025 are, in no particular order:

The Dancer by Emma Fielden
Kingfisher by Andy Fraser
I Was Florence Nightingale to an Extra-Terrestrial Long John Silver Impersonator by Arty Cox
The Caretaker's Coffee by Richard Holley
A Rose-y Outlook by Ann Morgan
Anniversary by Peter Appleby
A Cold Reception by Joyce Branagh
Rehearsals have begun and our members are excited to perform in our specially commissioned studio space within the iconic Town Hall Ballroom!
The overall winning writer will be announced on the night, and the audience will vote for their own award for one of the pieces shown.
