Something Magical This December
As the nights draw in, the leaves lose their colour, and the temperatures fall, there is a yearning in us to gather, to make cosy and to share tales of all kinds.
At the Hippodrome this December, we are offering evenings of story-telling to celebrate Winter in all its guises - and we are looking for people to be involved.
We are looking for applications from
story-tellers who can engage an audience through the spoken word. No sets, no props, no costumes...
You could choose prose or poetry - examples might include a description of Winter in nature, a children's story set in snowy woods, excerpts from a classic, pages from a recent publication, or myths and tales connected to Winter festivals from around the world. We would be particularly delighted to receive submissions from a range of cultures, religions and nationalities. As ever at the Hippodrome, we welcome new members.
If you would like to be involved, please come along to an open get-together on Wednesday 8th October 2025 - 7.30pm at the Hippodrome Theatre.
If you are interested in joining us there is an expression of interest form to complete. This just helps us with planning the event and in neither a commitment or a guarantee of participation.
The final selection will be curated by Helen Clarkson and Justine Sutcliffe.
Tickets for this lovely event will go on sale soon.
